Business, financial evidence and documented connections to the AI buildout.
Business and AI exposure
Shell’s energy-supply business serves Kao Data under a renewed electricity agreement. The relationship links Shell to data-center power procurement rather than ownership or operation of the computing facilities. The customer’s environmental reporting also identifies Shell supply in its Harlow operations.

Financial context
Shell reported $21.4 billion of operating cash flow in Q2 2026, net debt of $41.8 billion and gearing of 18.7%. These group-wide figures span the energy business and do not isolate the Kao contract or AI-related electricity earnings.
Delivery and commitments
The July 2026 renewal described approximately 140 GWh of annual electricity supply across Kao’s platform, building on a relationship dating from 2022. That volume is not an allocation to a single Harlow building. It also does not establish the amount consumed by AI workloads.
Costs, funding and dependencies
Power procurement, contract pricing, consumption and credit terms determine supplier economics. Renewable-energy certificates support contractual electricity claims; they do not mean every hour of site consumption is physically supplied by carbon-free generation. The agreement’s margin and site-level volume were not disclosed.
What to watch next
Follow future contract and consumption disclosures, keeping platform totals separate from campus use. A company-level AI earnings estimate would require attributable delivered volume, prices and costs that the current announcement does not provide.
Documented project connections
Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.
Kao Data Harlow AI campus / KLON-03
Shell supplies renewable electricity to Kao Data's operations, including its Harlow campus.
The 140 GWh annual supply discussed in the 2026 renewal is platform-wide, not an allocation to Harlow or disclosed Shell contract profit.
Evidence boundaries
Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.
This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
