Business, financial evidence and documented connections to the AI buildout.

Delivering electricity to growing loads

Exelon owns regulated electricity transmission and distribution utilities. Data-center growth can increase demand for connections and network investment, making the company an infrastructure provider to computing customers. It does not own those customers’ AI capacity, and network investment earns returns through utility contracts and regulatory arrangements.

Second-quarter 2026 operating context

Exelon reported GAAP earnings per share of $0.39 and adjusted operating EPS of $0.43 for the second quarter of 2026. ComEd earned $249 million, reflecting investment in its regulated asset base. These results do not separately quantify earnings from AI customers or new data-center connections.

Customer protections have been secured

In August 2026, Exelon announced more than $1 billion of customer protections through transmission security agreements. The arrangements require large new loads to commit revenue contributions before major network investment. This is evidence of contractual protection, rather than completed connections or a corresponding amount of recognized revenue.

Agreements require regulatory review

The transmission security agreements were subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission review. Their purpose is to allocate risks associated with serving major new customers before construction spending advances. The disclosed protection amount does not specify how many megawatts have been energized or when each customer will begin service.

Funding and regulated cost recovery

By the second-quarter 2026 update, Exelon had executed approximately 86% of its planned debt financing for the year. Funding supports a broad utility investment program. Individual large-load outcomes still depend on customer commitments, regulatory treatment and the construction needed to connect each site.

Watch network delivery and customer service

Regulatory treatment of the security agreements and the subsequent completion of customer connections would show how the framework works in practice. Utility-specific service dates and investment returns are the relevant measures; a computing customer’s campus target alone does not establish Exelon’s delivery milestone.

Documented project connections

Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.

CyrusOne Aurora campus

Utility parent through ComEd, which CyrusOne identifies as planning electrical infrastructure for the Aurora campus.

The groundbreaking announcement describes planned supporting infrastructure, not verified energization, accepted load, tariff revenue or campus ownership by Exelon.

Meta DeKalb

Utility-parent affiliation through ComEd, named by Meta among the partners supporting its DeKalb data center.

Meta’s opening notice establishes the named project partnership, not a disclosed dedicated power contract, energy volume, contract value or Exelon ownership of the campus.

Evidence boundaries

Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.

This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
