AI software and services for government
BigBear.ai supplies AI software and services, including work for homeland security, defense, intelligence and civilian agencies. Government contracts connect demand to the company’s revenue, but appropriations, funded task orders and exercised options determine how much announced contract value ultimately becomes paid work.

Second-quarter 2026 company position
BigBear.ai reported $36.7 million of revenue in the second quarter of 2026, with $269.6 million of backlog and $409.8 million of cash and investments. Its full-year 2026 revenue guidance was $135 million to $165 million. Those amounts provide context for the scale of later contract announcements.
Available products and planned extensions
The July 2026 product announcement described an air-gapped device already available and a bring-your-own-model capability expected around the third quarter of 2026. The latter target has passed, but the announcement alone does not confirm its subsequent release or acceptance by customers.
More than $225 million of awards
On October 13, 2026, BigBear.ai announced more than $225 million of contract awards, including options and contract ceilings. It also described more than 25 new generative-AI awards since July. The total is not all funded revenue, and the AI-specific share of the overall award value was not separated.
Funding is distinct from backlog
Only 29% of the approximately $270 million backlog at June 30, 2026 was funded. Government appropriations, options and termination-for-convenience provisions affect conversion of awards into revenue. A large headline contract amount therefore needs to be evaluated alongside its funded portion and actual task delivery.
Follow funded work into recognized sales
Newly funded task orders, customer acceptance and recognized revenue will demonstrate execution against the awards. Confirmation of bring-your-own-model availability would establish a separate product milestone. Because individual task acceptance dates were not disclosed, aggregate award announcements cannot by themselves show when the related cash will arrive.
Documented project connections
Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.
No named tracked-project role has been established by the evidence used for this profile. This does not mean the company has no AI exposure.
Evidence boundaries
Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.
This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
