Berkshire Hathaway
Business, financial evidence and documented connections to the AI buildout.
A diversified owner with utility exposure
Berkshire Hathaway’s businesses span insurance and numerous operating industries. Its connection to AI infrastructure includes Berkshire Hathaway Energy utilities that may supply electricity to data centers. The relevant economics sit within particular subsidiaries and their customer contracts, rather than a standalone AI business.

Second-quarter 2026 scale
In the second quarter of 2026, utilities and energy generated $5.408 billion of operating revenue against Berkshire’s $101.808 billion total revenue. That comparison describes the broad energy business. It does not measure revenue from AI customers or the profitability of serving their facilities.
Large-load demand is an early step
Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s May 2025 presentation described large-load opportunities and the process for special contracts and customer protections. PacifiCorp’s customer requests indicate potential demand, but a request alone does not establish an approved service contract, completed infrastructure or electricity already being supplied.
Contracts and regulatory recovery
A utility expansion becomes economically meaningful through a defined service agreement, approved investment and an acceptable path to recovering costs. The disclosed large-load process should be understood at that subsidiary level; it does not amount to a single Berkshire-wide AI construction commitment.
Liquidity and subsidiary obligations
The second-quarter 2026 report showed $35.096 billion of cash and $324.905 billion of Treasury bills in insurance and other businesses. Those resources sit alongside separately financed utility obligations. Parent liquidity cannot automatically be assigned to each proposed utility project or assumed to guarantee its returns.
Follow the individual utility projects
The clearest evidence of progress would be executed large-load contracts, regulatory decisions and actual energization at the relevant utility. Project-specific investment, cost-recovery terms and customer demand would make it possible to assess returns without labeling the entire utilities and energy segment as AI exposure.
Documented project connections
Each connection below has a specific, cited role. A supplier, lender, customer or proposed acquirer has different economics from the project owner.
Meta Altoona
Utility-parent exposure through MidAmerican Energy, which Meta identifies as its energy-planning partner for the Altoona data center.
MidAmerican Energy is held through Berkshire Hathaway Energy. The source does not establish project revenue, a dedicated supply contract or a campus ownership interest.
Meta Eagle Mountain
Utility parent exposure through Berkshire Hathaway Energy's PacifiCorp/Rocky Mountain Power; Meta names Rocky Mountain Power in its Eagle Mountain energy planning.
The utility relationship does not disclose Berkshire's AI-only revenue, project profit or campus ownership.
Meta Sturgeon County
Indirect grid-planning connection through Berkshire Hathaway Energy's AltaLink, which Meta names among its Sturgeon energy-planning partners.
The named planning role does not establish a priced campus transmission contract, exclusive electricity supply or quantified Berkshire earnings. Capital Power’s separate 250 MW agreement is not an AltaLink contract.

Evidence boundaries
Company totals, segment sales, bookings, backlog, spending, capacity and usage describe different things. They do not establish project-level revenue, earnings or an exact AI-only revenue share unless the cited disclosure explicitly says so.
This is a dated research snapshot. Forecasts are attributed expectations, and undisclosed amounts remain unknown. Source review does not certify every project or future outcome.
